Our Eurostars-funded development project has now successfully come to an end and the automated prototype FastFIX robot is fully commissioned with all functional steps having been proven. This first functioning FastFIX unit is a “proof-of-concept” robot which will be used to demonstrate the potential of this new technology. It is estimated that the next iteration of the FastFIX robot will be able to repair approximately 100m pipe-lengths within 24 hours with no humans required to work inside the pipe!

Exciting times! Despite challenges with Covid 19 and travel restrictions that have been in place for most of 2021, MCS Control Systems’ team has finished building the control system and panel for the FastFix robot. Integration of the panel is ongoing and soon we’ll start testing all functions of the robot with the easy-to-use remote control!
A major milestone has been achieved in the Fast-Fix Eurostars project! The integrated machine capable of inspecting, cleaning, surface preparation and homogeneously lining leaking or abraded pipes has been built and tested manually. It is working as expected - great work with a new and innovative solution by the PeDa-team! After automation the complete set-up is estimated to repair approx. 100m pipe-length in 24h with no humans inside the pipe!
Next step is the automation installation, which is planned to be finalized latest early May. Liners based on Polyurea chemistry include a wide group of products with a wide range of application areas. Polyurea with qualities that work well on a concrete floor, as bedliners etc. will not necessarily work well as a continuously submerged pipe-liner.
Kinera has carried out an extensive research and together with Krypton Chemicals developed a unique formulation maintaining high adhesion to a substrate immersed in water at oscillating thermal exposure over a long period of time! This Fast-Fix non-structural liner will seal leaking pipes and give excellent protection for abrasive damages (ISO 11295, class C/D). We are now also developing a semi and fully structural liner to repair pipes with loss of structural integrity (ISO 11295, class A/B). |
