APPLICATIONS for P-PVC
Flooring:

Flooring materials in homes and public/commercial buildings are chosen from a variety of beneficial characteristics, such as durability, design & fashion, heat and sound insulation and ease of maintenance. |

The vinyl floor coverings are easy to lay and remove. Floors made by vinyl are suitable for use both domestically (residential or cushion vinyl) and publically (commercial). |
| Cushion vinyl flooring often consists of a back coat, a base / impregnation coat, a foam layer and a top layer (wear coat). Back coat foams are often used as a sound-and shock dampening backing. Suitable resins for back-coat have properties like good foamability and often include high filler acceptance. When the foam is mechanically whipped products such as Geon 120X400, Geon 124A, Geon 180x5 and Geon 138 are preferred. For chemically foamed coats recommended resins are Geon 180X200, Geon 124A, Geon M085F, Geon 129x115 or Geon 120X400. When the substrate is impregnated, important factors are good adhesion to the substrate and limited plastisol penetration. This is obtained by using Geon 180x5. Chemical foam allows freedom of design due to its inhibition properties. Employed PVC-resins must have low viscosity, good inhibition performance and give a fine cell structure. Good filler acceptance is a benefit. Recommended resins are Geon 180X200, Geon 124A, Geon M085F and Geon 129x115. Printing is used to obtain variations in design. Recommended resins for printing inks are Geon 137 (water based) and Geon 186A (plastisol based). The top coat is the wear layer and preferred properties include high wear-, stain-, UV- and chemical resistance, fire resistance, low water absorption and ease of maintenance. Recommended resins in this layer are Geon 172, Geon 173 and Geon 179. Commercial flooring is more compact and often with a thicker top coat to give increased durability and often less degree of or no foam structure in the base coat. Safety floor is a special commercial floor with an anti-slip top layer. Suitable resins should have a pseudoplastic flow behavior, e.g. Geon 120X400 or Geon 173. Carpets and vinyl tiles are other floor coverings where vinyl beneficially can be used. Copolymer resins, such as Geon 138 and Geon 136 have a low VOC-level and are used to provide fusion at lower temperatures, minimizing the chance of damage to nylon pile during fusion. |
