Over the last twenty years there has been a considerable increase in the proportion of plastics to be found in vehicles. PVC now accounts for 8 to 9% of all plastics used to make cars and is an important factor in the production of parts such as dashboards, underbody sealants, door panels, isolation mats, handles, seats and electrical wires.
PVC is highly valued due to qualities like soundproofing and thermal insulation, mechanical properties, fire resistance, its aesthetic looks and the recycling opportunities. |

Plasticized PVC skins can be manufactured using the slush molding technique to produce dashboards, inner doors and central consoles for the insides of motor vehicles. Recommended resins for such applications were low fogging is a requirement are Geon 129 and Geon 129x115
PVC plastisols are used as underbody sealants in the automotive industry. Recommended resin for underbody sealants are Geon 124A, Geon 136 and Geon 138. |
